Trevathan named SEC defensive player of the week

Junior linebacker Danny Trevathan was named Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week after he posted a game-high 11 tackles in the Cats 23-16 win over the Cards on Saturday.

His 11 tackles on Saturday were tied for the second-highest total in the SEC during week one of the season.

Nine of Trevathan’s tackles were solo, and he also recorded three-and-a-half tackles for loss, a career-high.

“I think I played well, but I thought I could’ve done a lot better,” said Trevathan, who received the news of his honor in a text message from UK head coach Joker Phillips.
