UK’s starting third baseman transfers
Andy Burns, UK’s starting third baseman last year, will transfer to Arizona, according to Blugrassbaseball.com.
Burns hit .271 with 11 home runs and 30 RBI as a sophomore last year. (For those of you more sabermetric-oriented, he had a .345 on-base percentage and a .531 slugging percentage.)
Beyond being a solid player who provided some power in the lineup, Burns had a huge off-field presence as well in the form of the “Andy Burns dance,” which stemmed from his walkout song “All I Do Is Win.” While I never saw the entire crowd get into “putting their hands up….and they stay there,” there was always the little kids (and P.R. staff) that loved it.
Perhaps Arizona will prove to be better dancers than Wildcat fans.
Regardless, UK lost a solid player for the 2011 season.
