UK football recruiting class jumps into top 25
Joker Phillips is making headway on the recruiting trail in his first year as head coach.
UK’s recruiting class just jumped into ESPN’s top 25, taking out Mississippi State in the process. The Worldwide Leader, it appears, is liking the players Phillips is bringing in.
Yesterday, he picked up a committment from Zach West, the state’s top-ranked offensive lineman. It was considered quite the coup for Phillips, as West also had offers from Penn State and Tennessee.
Phillips has been getting it done in-state, which he has said is a priority. Three of the top four prospects from the state of Kentucky are now signed on the become Cats. Keeping talent home is a big part of recruiting success.
Of course, this all comes with a caveat, as recruiting stays in flux until the players actually end up on campus. Signees can change their mind, player rankings can change and nothing is official until Signing Day.
