Game notes from UK’s 100-71 win over East Tennessee State

- UK defeated East Tennessee State 100-71 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in New Orleans on Thursday night. The win moves UK on to the second round of the tournament and improves their overall record to 33-2.

- The Cats’ next game will take place 30 minutes after the Baylor-Old Dominion game at 5:40 p.m.

- UK will face Wake Forest in the second round.

- Freshman guard Eric Bledsoe led the way for the Cats, hitting 8-9 3-point attempts, a new record by a UK player in an NCAA Tournament game. Bledsoe finished with a game-high 29 points.

- Junior forward Patrick Patterson was also on fire against the Buccaneers, hitting 9-of-10 shots from the field for 22 points.

- Bledsoe and Patterson accounted for over half (51) of UK’s total points (100).

- Lost because of the performance of Bledsoe is that of freshman guard John Wall. The Southeastern Conference player of the year registered a double-double with 17 points and 11 assists.

- Freshman forward DeMarcus Cousins took only two shots from the floor, scoring five points and pulling down eight rebounds. Cousins also had four blocks and four assists.

- Freshman forward Daniel Orton was 3-for-5 from the field, scoring eight points and pulling down seven rebounds to go along with three blocks.

- UK shot 59.4 percent from the field in the first half, 51.7 percent for the game.

- UK was hot from beyond the arc, hitting 15 of their 33 3-point attempts.

- The Cats got 22 points from their bench.

- UK’s largest lead of the game was 40.

- Attendance was 10,984.
