The Madness has begun

Have you ever seen 100 people jump for five solid minutes without their feet hitting the ground? Ever felt a building shake at a time other than an earthquake?

If you haven’t, obviously you don’t live in Kentucky. Especially not today.

The above is the only way to describe what happened at the nearest Buffalo Wild Wings to my house in my hometown of Louisville.

Every dunk spelled pandemonium. But when DeMarcus Cousins laid in the ball with 0.1 seconds left to send UK into overtime against Mississippi State the only way to describe what happened is to measure it on a Richter scale.

A game in which the Cats were going to surely lose (mostly due to an inability to put the ball in the hoop at the end) quickly turned into euphoria.

I was at the same place for the UK-Louisville game and the atmosphere pales in comparison.

But on a purely basketball note, the Cats just showed the world why they’ll be dangerous in the tournament.

Despite being down five points with less than a minute left, the Cats clawed back and capitalized with the last minute Boogie lay in.

Then, they took charge in overtime and built a big enough lead to hold on for the SEC Tournament title.

The will to win was one that championship teams have in March. It was an ending that was purely madness.

And the Cats came out on top. I’d hate to be the other team for the next four weeks.

Because instead of John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins shots (yes, Cousins. The main difference is Cousins uses bourbon and Wall uses vodka) getting toasted by the minute after one victory, they’ll be an entire March full of them.
