Two more UK signees honored

Following UK signee Maegan Conwright’s Most Valuable Player award at last weekend’s Texas State Tournament, two more 2010 UK signees were honored on Friday.

Sarah Beth Barnette, a 6-foot-1 forward at Lexington Christian Academy, was named Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year. Kastine Evans, a 5-foot-8 guard at Norwich Free Academy, was named Gatorade Connecticut Player of the Year.

Evans is the 67th-best prospect in the class of 2010, according to ESPN’s HoopGurlz. Barnette is not a member of the HoopGurlz top-100 players, but she is a nominee for the 2010 McDonald’s All-American Game.

The Gatorade POY award is given not only to players excelling athletically, but also to those excelling in the classroom.
