UK recruit picks up award

Maegan Conwright, one of five UK signees for Matthew Mitchell’s top-10 class of 2010, was named the Most Valuable Player of the University Interscholastic League Girls State Basketball Championship.

Conwright not only captured MVP honors over the weekend in Austin, Texas, but also led her team Mansfield Timberview High School to its first Class 4A title. She tallied 36 points in her two state tournament games.

According to ESPN HoopGurlz, Conwright, a 5-foot-9 native of Arlington, Texas, is the 36th-best guard in the nation.
