This list of scenarios were passed on by the Southeastern Conference in reference to the SEC Tournament that starts on Tuesday. I’ll let you decode the craziness, especially in the SEC West.
EAST 5/6 SEEDS
If Georgia wins, and South Carolina wins – South Carolina will be No. 5 seed
- Both teams would be 6-10 in league play
- They have split their head-to-head meetings
- Both teams would be 4-6 against the Eastern Division
- Tie-breaker “C” is: Won-lost record of the tied teams versus the No. 1 seed in their division (and proceeding through the No. 6 seed, if necessary)
o South Carolina was 1-1 against Kentucky, Georgia was 0-2 against Kentucky
If Georgia loses and USC loses – Georgia will be No. 5 seed
- Both teams would be 5-11 in league play
- They have split their head-to-head meetings
- Georgia would be 4-6 against the Eastern Division while South Carolina would be 3-7
If Georgia wins and South Carolina loses – Georgia will be No. 5 seed
- Georgia would be 6-10 in league play while South Carolina is 5-11
If Georgia loses and South Carolina wins – South Carolina will be No. 5 seed
- South Carolina would be 6-10 in league play while Georgia is 5-11
WEST SEEDING
If Ole Miss wins and Auburn wins – Ole Miss No. 2, Auburn No. 3, Arkansas No. 4, Alabama No. 5
- Ole Miss would be 9-7 in league play, Arkansas would be 7-9, Auburn would be 7-9, Alabama would be 5-11
- Arkansas and Auburn split their head-to-head meetings
- Auburn would be 6-4 against the Western Division while Arkansas would be 5-5
If Arkansas wins and Auburn wins – Arkansas No. 2, Ole Miss No. 3, Auburn No. 4, Alabama No. 5
- League play records: Arkansas 8-8, Ole Miss 8-8, Auburn 7-9, Alabama 5-11
- Arkansas would have swept its head-to-head meetings with Ole Miss
If Arkansas wins and Alabama wins – Arkansas No. 2, Ole Miss No. 3 and the No. 4 and 5 spots will depend on the East 5/6 seeding between Georgia and South Carolina
- League play records: Arkansas 8-8, Ole Miss 8-8, Alabama 6-10, Auburn 6-10
- Arkansas and Ole Miss have split their head-to-head meetings
- Arkansas and Ole Miss would both be 6-4 against the Western Division
