Cats clinch SEC title, could move up in polls
On a day where UK isn’t even expected to hit the court, the outlook couldn’t be better.
Thanks to South Carolina’s upset of Vanderbilt, the Cats have won their 44th Southeastern Conference title. All other schools combined have 46 titles. The Gamecocks’ victory seals the No. 1 seed for UK in the SEC Tournament in addition to the conference crown.
And while South Carolina helped UK lock up the SEC, rival Louisville helped UK practically lock up a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Playing for the last time in Freedom Hall, the Cards beat No. 1 Syracuse for the second time this season. As long as the Cats don’t lose to Florida on Sunday, they will likely move up to No. 2 in the polls. Only a disappointment during the SEC Tournament would keep UK from a No. 1 seed in the NCAAs.
John Wall didn’t even dribble a basketball and today’s a good day for the Cats.
That’s hard to beat.
