UK to play Auburn in SEC quarterfinal
On Thursday, the Southeastern Conference Tournament got under way in Duluth, Ga., and No. 10 seed Auburn (15-15, 5-11 SEC) will be second-seeded UK’s (23-6, 11-5 SEC) quarterfinal opponent.
The Tigers advanced to Friday’s quarterfinal following a 74-61 over the Florida Gators.
The game between UK and Auburn will be the teams’ third meeting of the season. The two teams split their first two meetings: The Cats lost their final game of the regular season to Auburn 65-53, but beat the Tigers 68-50 on Jan. 24.
Auburn leads the all-time record versus UK in the SEC Tournament 5-1. The Tigers and Cats last met in the postseason in 2005 with UK falling 62-57.
