Cats win home opener 6-4

It’s good to be home.

UK (4-0) won its home opener at Cliff Hagan Stadium, beating Bowling Green 6-4.

Sophomore outfielder Chad Wright and junior second baseman Chris Bisson both cracked early two-run home runs to propel the Cats to a 5-1 lead in the fourth inning that they would not relinquish.

Sophomore pitcher Alex Meyer picked up his second win of the season, pitching 5.2 innings.  He allowed two earned runs on seven hits while striking out six.

Junior reliever Matt Little threw the last 3.1 innings to pick up the save.  He got out of a one-out, bases-loaded jam in the ninth inning.

UK continues its series against Bowling Green Saturday at 1 p.m.
