UK moves up in coaches’ poll, projected as a fourth seed by expert
The coaches’ poll voters were kinder to the UK women’s basketball team (23-4, 11-3 Southeastern Conference) than the voters of the AP poll.
UK remained at No. 16 in the AP poll, released on Monday, despite two blowout wins last week. However, UK was able to manage to move up two spots to No.14 in the coaches’ poll, released on Tuesday.
Generally, UK has had more success with coaches’ poll voters, who put UK in the top 25 before the AP poll followed suit.
With three regular season games left in addition to the SEC Tournament, the Cats are a virtual lock for the NCAA Tournament.
According to ESPN bracketologist Charlie Creme, the Cats are projected as the No. 4 seed in the Sacramento regional. As the projection stands, UK would face Arkansas-Little Rock from the Sun Belt Conference in the first round in Tempe, Ariz.
