UK tops in analysts’ bracketology

In some of the more obvious news in recent memory, the unanimous No. 1 Cats are also the No. 1 overall seed, according to three bracketologists.

ESPN Bracketologist Joe Lunardi, CBSSports.com’s Jerry Palm and Sport Illustrated’s Andy Glockner all have the Cats as the No. 1 overall seed. The three bracketologists also all have the Cats playing in the Midwest Region which would put them in St. Louis for the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight (should they make it that far).

Where the other SEC teams fall – and how many actually make the Big Dance – is what varies between the three.

Other teams from the SEC to make Lunardi’s bracket are Tennessee (3-seed), Vanderbilt (5-seed), Mississippi State (7-seed) and Mississippi (8-seed).

Palm has the least number of SEC teams to make the tournament with Tennessee (4-seed), Vanderbilt (6-seed) and Mississippi (6-seed) being the only teams other than UK. Mississippi State was one of his first four teams out.

Glockner has the most teams to make it to the tournament from the SEC with six. Glockner projects Tennessee (4-seed), Vanderbilt (5-seed), Mississippi (8-seed), Mississippi State (10-seed) and Florida (11-seed) to make the tournament in addition to the Cats.
