UK No. 1, according to Parrish, Goodman

It’s not the Associated Press top 25, it’s not even the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll, but it’s still No. 1.

Everyone knew it was going to happen and two of college basketball’s more prominent writers have declared the Cats (19-0, 4-0 Southeastern Conference) No. 1 in their weekly polls.

Gary Parrish, CBSSports.com’s college basketball columnist, have the Cats at No. 1 with Kansas, Villanova, Syracuse and Texas rounding out the top five. Other teams from the SEC in Parrish’s top 25 are Tennessee at No. 14 and Mississippi at No. 16.

Jeff Goodman, senior college basketball writer for FOXSports.com, like Parrish, has the Cats No. 1, followed by Kansas, Villanova, Syracuse and Texas. Goodman has Tennessee at No. 16 and Mississippi at No. 19.

The AP poll comes out on Monday.
