Fans’ code of conduct passed out before UK/Florida
Arrived a bit ago here at the O’Connell Center in Gainesville for tonight’s game. I took a stroll around the inside of the arena before the house opened, and saw an O’Connell Center worker putting sheets of paper on each seat in the lower arena. UF decided to distribute copies of the Gator Fans’ Code of Conduct prior to tonight’s game because, as the O’Connell staffer told me, they’re expecting the fans to be at their “best” tonight.
This code of conduct can be found in the game programs all season — which fans have to purchase — and they are distributed individually on each seat during games in which the fans are expected to be particularly unruly.
This is the first time all season this code of conduct has been distributed separately. The worker I spoke to said he expects UF will pass these out for the UK and Tennessee games this season, and he attributed that to the off-the-court news involving John Calipari and the recent legal troubles facing four of Tennessee’s players.
An excerpt from the code of conduct:
Prohibited Behavior
Rowdy, threatening, or inconsiderate behavior such as standing in the aisles, portals or concourses, profane and abusive language … will not be tolerated and can result in ejection, arrest, and/or loss of season ticket privileges.
The O’Connell Center is also placing a free orange t-shirt in every seat, lower and upper arena. Expect the “Orangeout.”
