The honors keep rolling in for the UK football team. The league office announced the All-SEC freshman team earlier today, and two Cats were honored on the offensive side of the ball.
Quarterback Morgan Newton and offensive guard Larry Warford were named to the team. Both are true freshmen.
Newton went 5-2 as a starter and threw for 608 yards and five touchdowns after arriving as one of UK’s most touted recruits. He’s expected to battle junior Mike Hartline for the starting quarterback job next year.
Warford, the cousin of junior cornerback Paul Warford, saw significant action as one of UK’s top reserves on the offensive line. He made noise in fall camp after arriving with modest expectations and could become a starter as soon as next year with the graduation of Christian Johnson.Redshirt freshman Taylor Wyndham had been named a freshman All-American by Phil Steele earlier in the week. Wyndham is best known for knocking Florida quarterback Tim Tebow out of the game with a hit that concussed the Heisman winner.
