Music City Bowl President: UK “very high on our list”
Just spoke with Scott Ramsey, president of the Music City Bowl, on UK’s chances of heading to Nashville for the third time in four
years.
He was quite clear that UK is “very high on our list.”
He said that because of UK’s recent history with the bowl, the game has built great relationships with UK’s administration and coaches. But the biggest thing they’ve learned about UK is the kind of fan support the Big Blue Nation brings.
“The fan support is unquestioned and I think that’s one of the great selling points of Kentucky,” Ramsey said.
Ramsey said he isn’t sure when they’ll make a decision on who to invite, but hope to do so as soon as possible. But until the SEC announces both Florida and Alabama will be BCS-bound, everyone is at a standstill. Their decision could come this week or could wait until as late as Sunday, he said.
UK won the Music City Bowl in 2006 and 2007.
“We’ve had great success with Kentucky in our game,” Ramsey said. “We wouldn’t hesitate a minute to make it three in four years.”
As with other bowl games, the Music City Bowl is looking at a cramped SEC that has six teams at 7-5. That’s going to lead to some tough decisions for bowl games all over that have deals with the SEC, Ramsey said.
“Each game is going to have to pick the best matchup for their city,” Ramsey said.
