UPDATE: Cats to Music City Bowl?
Well it’s been quite the whirlwind these past few hours!
When reading this post keep in mind that nothing is concrete yet, nor will anything likely be concrete until Saturday night or Sunday. That doesn’t mean we can’t be really confident in some assumptions that we’re going to make.
Here’s a quick summary of what has happened thus far:
First, AuburnSports.com reported that Auburn had accepted a bid to the Outback Bowl to face off against a Big Ten team still to be decided. That was UK’s dream bowl, but it was a long shot either way. A win over Tennessee would have helped UK’s chances.
Then, a little after 3 p.m., the Knoxville News-Sentinel reported that Tennessee had accepted a bid to play in the Chick-fil-A Bowl (mmmm, delicious) against Virginia Tech of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
That left UK and Georgia as the primary candidates for the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl.
Around 5:30 p.m., Georgia’s  Rivals site, UGASports.com, reported that the Dawgs will be headed to Shreveport, La., for the Independence Bowl.
So with all that said, it looks as though UK will be headed to the Music City Bowl for the third time in four years. The Cats’ likely opponent would  either be North Carolina or Miami from the ACC.
Ain’t bowling fun?
UPDATE:
The Tennessean is reporting the Volunteers will play Virginia Tech in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta, and UK will play in the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl, according to sources close to both bowls.
