Will this be the year for Cats to top the Vols?

It’s a question that is often asked: will this be the year?
I’ve heard it every year for at least the last four years. My freshman year wasn’t the year. My sophomore year looked to be the year… but three overtimes later, it wasn’t the year.
Last year was definitely not the year. But this year? Maybe.
A lot has changed, but then again not much has changed at all. Tennessee has a new head coach. UK still has Paw Paw Brooks. UK has some explosive playmakers, but that’s not anything new. The high-octane offense of two years ago couldn’t overcome the Volunteers and this year’s offense is pale in comparison.
The defense is solid, but I’m not sure many thing it’s more solid than last year’s defense. No matter what UK has brought to the table, Tennessee has always left a winner. In Lexington, In Knoxville, everywhere.
So can this year be any different? Can a freshman quarterback win a big one at home like he’s done so many times on the road? Will Randall Cobb be the kid that takes UK to the promised land? You know Cobb, the kid that Tennessee left in their backyard, ignored possibly, for UK to scoop up?
The same questions year after year. I don’t know the answer to the question this year. To me, UK has as good a shot as they ever had. As long as the deficit at halftime isn’t too steep, this year’s team could finally get over the huge mountain.
I bet you on Saturday you’ll see UK’s big guns more fired up than you’ve seen them all year. But until the clock reads 00:00 in the fourth quarter… we won’t know the answer.
