Senior Day 2009

On Saturday, before the annual rivalry game against Tennessee, UK fans will have the honor of celebrating a senior class that has helped established a winning tradition for the Cats. These seniors have seen a winning season every year they’ve lettered with a bowl game every year. They hold the longest nonconference winning streak in school history.

Some were highly recruited (The Johnson Brothers, Christian and Micah), others created their legend after flying under the radar (Trevard Lindley, Sam Maxwell) and the rest has been solid role players, shining when given the chance (John Conner, Alfonso Smith) and creating depth where needed. Many of these seniors are starters or have started multiple games (over half of the list).

It’s hard to say where this class will stack up in UK history in the very end. Regardless, they have done what many senior classes have never accomplished. Maybe they can put the final note on their place in history by doing what 22 classes before them couldn’t.
